Collenchyma is a mechanical tissue in young dicotlendonous stemps and provides mechanical support and elasticity.
This Collenchyma provides tensile strength with flexibility to those organs in which it is found.
It allows easy Bending in various parts of a plant without actually breaking it.
When cells of collenchyma contains some chloroplast that manufactured sugar and starch .

The cells of Collenchyma is located below the epidermis of dicotyledon stem and Petiole . These cells also occurs in the midribs of dicot leaves. Collenchyma is absent in monocot stems roots and leaves
