Vernacular novels were a valuable sources of information for the colonial government.

1)the new novels in indian language often has descriptions of domestic life.

2) the colonial government translated some of them into English.

3) vernacular novels had info about the social life of the countries.

This helped them to get additional info of their colonies and to rule them by targetting at their weak points
