Combine these pairs of sentences using infinitives.
1. She collects matchboxes. It is her hobbyle
2. The boy was happy. He received a prize.
3. The clown does tricks. He makes people laugh.
4. He did not have any money. He could not buy food.
5. We did not play well enough. We did not win the game.
6. The vendor goes to the houses every day. She sells her goods.

Infinitives are mostly -basic verb form + to.

v1 + to \:   \:  \: or \:  \: ving + to

But there are three other types of infinitives as well:-

Present participle- V1+ ing eg playing

Past participle - Third form of verb eg gone, played, seen. }}

1)Perfect infinitive- To have + past participle

Eg He is supposed to have written the book.

2) Perfect continous - To have been+ present participle

Eg He would prefer to have been sleeping all night.

3)Continous infinitive - To be verb form+ present participle

Eg He is supposed to be studying English. OR I am playing cricket.

4) Passive infinitive-To be verb form + past participle

Eg - The thief was caught by the police.

It is used to commonly show a purpose or an action.

It can be used as a noun ,an adjective or an adverb.

As a noun examples

1) I need to study. - need is the main verb here.It is put in the end as object.

2) To succeed requires hard work.- Requires is main verb here.

As an adjective examples

-They will be modifying/describing the noun here.

1) Avatar is a movie to watch.

2) The museum is the place to visit.

The first sentence is indirectly describing the movie as a great movie. The second sentence is also doing the same
