Here's the Justification :

⏪Air is a Mixture of gases along with Dust particles . These are Called it's Components. These components are mixed such that they retain their individual identity. The ratio is not Fixed . All these indicate that Air is a Mixture .

⏪Water is a compound as it is formed by the combination of two elements Hydrogen and Oxygen .These are chemically combined . And this ratio in which they combine is Fixed i,e 1: 8. Hence water is a compound .

Answer:

Air is a mixture because:

1) Its components vary from place to place

2) Its components continue to vary

3) Its components can be seperated by physical means.

Water is a compound because:

1) Its components are bound together chemically

2) Its components always occur in a fixed proportion -- be it tap water, sea water, etc.
