friction is known as a nesssary evil because
it helps as
--we would not be able to walk without friction
--without friction we would slip
--the brakes of the vehicles also work by friction
it causes problems as
--it wears out thematerials wheter they are screws, ball bearings ors soles of shoes
--because of wearing out of these materials we have to buy things again and again

Friction is called an evil. Although it is necessary.
A few examples are:
1) When a car moves on the road, it is friction which makes it move. You may think that what's the problem in this? It is good for the car that friction helps it in moving. But no, actually, friction causes the Tyre's to wear out. Hence, although it is necessary, still it is an evil.
2) Similarly, when you walk, it is frictional force that helps you to walk, but the soles of your shoes wear out gradually, and then you have to buy a new pair of shoes.
