Amanda's parent i.e her mother always wanted her child's good.she cared for her daughter. She nagged at her all the time for Amanda's well being.So, she she used to ask her to eat less chocolate which is not good for her health, clean her room, keep her things in its place, and behave properly.Overall, she wanted her daughter to be discipline. This made her mother look strict all the time in the poem.
