A person cannot be judged by the awkward appearance as a book cannot be judged by its cover. Here in this story, the two boys looked shabby and untidy which made the driver disappove them. But the author 's interest on them increased on finding them indulging in all sorts of odd jobs with a willingness. Their sincerity, devotion & dedication towards the work to meet the medical expenses of their sister were appreciable. Through the boys do a variety of jobs & earn enough profit, they do not want to spend the money on themselves. The qualities shown by the boys made the narrator to give the title "the two gentlemen of Verona".

Nicola and Jacopo have adopted a serious livelihood at a tender age of 13 and 12 years respectively.
The have sacrificed their childhood to earn a living and money for the treatment of their dear sister.
They are even so mature and hardworking at this age. The are able to perform many works and also dont want to share their pain with others
The like the real gentlemens want to solve their own problems without anyones help...
