In the story hearts and hands the writer deals with an ironical situation the irony is supported and intelligent the show the story set in a train to Denver.and elegantly dressed woman named miss fairchild is seated on the train when the 2 man arrived and takes seat facing her it quickly becomes Apparent that woman knows one of them.his name was Easton he speaks to Easton and then she rather surprised to discover that he is handcuffed to the man seated beside him as Easton greets the woman he is slightly raises his right hand pounded at the bridge by the shining bracelet to the left one office companion.the man with Easton senses the ladies tension and gives an expiry explanation he says that Easton is the masses and the two are headed for the leavenworth prison both miss fairchild and Eastern are relieved of their tension and embarrassment by the man's remark.passengers seated nearby have listened to the conversation 1 remarks that Easton seems to be too young to be mersal the other remarks that he is not the muscle but the counterfeiters he says did you ever know and officer handcuff a Prisoner to his right hand the unexpected remark defence the mystery points out the irony and surprises the readers.
