Comment on the dominant variety of prose (narrative, expository or descriptive) present in each of the following passages. Write a brief critical appreciation of each passage in about 250 words each:

(a)Around three in the afternoon on a cloudless day, the beach on our side was empty of people besides my friend, his mother and I. It was freeing to be alone on this vast beach, known to be a holy place among Hindus. Ganapatipule is named after the God Ganesha, and there is a famous Ganesha shrine near there where a Ganesha swayambhu (a sculpture erected from the Earth itself in the form of a God) is worshipped. Bathing in the ocean around this area is supposed to cleanse people of their negativity and visiting the shrine also purifies individuals as well. As I started to swim in the warm ocean, jumping over waves, I left my friends behind. My feet were easily touching the ocean floor at all times. But at one instant, I felt my feet could not touch the ocean floor anymore and I plunged into the water, weighed down by my clothing. The waves kept coming and now they were menacing, as I was getting sucked into the depths every time they came, even if I rose out of the water and tried to swim back to the part of the ocean where I could get a foothold. I had been sucked into a riptide.

(b)The best way to solve a conflict is not to let it happen. This may sound controversial, but conflict prevention is needed the best way not only to eliminate points of collision, but also develop a mutually-beneficial point of view (or course of action) before the difference in views grows into conflict. To prevent a conflict, you should take a conscious and proactive position, seeking out areas of potential conflicts. It means that you should sustain a friendly atmosphere, saying serious and difficult-to-express things with a bit of humor. Just remember that you should laugh with your opponents, not at them. This way, a conflict can become an opportunity for establishing a greater connection and intimacy between you and your opponents. However, if you are already engaged in a conflict and there is no obvious way out of it, remember some rules that will help you minimize danger. One rule is that any physical or verbal abuse is never acceptable. You should also abstain from personal criticism; ignoring the opponent altogether (so-called “shutting down”); nonverbal hostility (such as “eye-rolling”), and making yourself a victim of your opponent these are the conventional rules of engaging in a conflict.

(c)Perhaps the most well-known and recognized symbol of China is the Great Wall. The Great Wall, or Chang Cheng in Chinese, is massive. It begins in the east at the Yellow Sea, travels near China’s capital, Beijing, and continues west through numerous provinces. For thousands of miles, it winds like a snake through China’s varied terrain. The Great Wall’s length is approximately 2,400/- miles, its thickness ranges from 15-30 feet wide, and it reaches in height to about 25 feet. For many centuries, the Great Wall has been considered one of the world’s wonders. Although it is often mistakenly thought of as a single wall, the Great Wall is a series of walls that were constructed, reconstructed and expanded over several centuries. The massive construction project was the idea of China’s first emperor, Shi Huangdi, who ended more than 250 years of regional fighting between several independent states, and united China. Construction of the Great Wall continued long after the reign of Shi Huangdi, particularly during the Han and the Ming dynasties. During these periods, features such as watch towers, gates and garrisons were added or enhanced and the Wall’s design was unified.

Critical appreciation:

A narrative p;rose is such, where there are events and actions notified by using "I" or other forms of narrations.

Again a descriptive p;rose is such , where there are a number of descriptions of several events, places, things or other things considered.

In case of an expository prose, the whole prose is in the form of a story being told and the main objective of such a prose is to give awareness or some knowledge to the readers about some important cause.

-By reading the three prose given here, we might hence say that the first prose is a form of narrative prose.

-The second prose is a form, of expository prose.

-The third prose is an example of descriptive prose.
