Answer

The narrative of Fritz by Satyajit Ray is set in a British-era rest home in the small Rajasthani village of Bundi, and it holds the reader's attention right up until the final scene, when it plunges him into a hive of dread, confusion, and chimaera.

Explanation:

The narrative of "Fritz" has been built up with suspense from the very beginning. The premise of the novel hinted at the mystery of Bundi, which rendered Jayanto absorbed in the realm of his early memories. Later, Jayanto introduces Fritz to Shankar and the reader after making additional attempts to retrieve his childhood memories.

Jayanto's restless night was what contributed to his increased level of worry for Fritz. He reasoned that Fritz had most likely paid him a nighttime visit, and it was his tiny, circular footprints that had left an imprint on his bedspread. Shankar was concerned by his friend's strange behaviour, so Shankar advised that they exhume Fritz to put their minds at ease. He would regain his senses and embrace reality once he realised that there was nothing left of Fritz because he had been buried decades earlier.

So, when they finally exhume Fritz with the aid of a gardener, they are in total disbelief to discover a foot-long, flawlessly white human skeleton lying flat on its back and covered in dust.

I think the story's conclusion is wonderful. Even though the story is left open-ended and the reader is free to use his imagination to come to a conclusion, the conclusion serves to further emphasise the theme of horror and the fragility of human beings.v
