Mrs. Packletide wasn't able to achieve her heart's bdesire completely. No doubt, she had a dead tiger in her possession. But Miss Mebbin threatened to tell the secret of the tigers death to Loona Bimberton. She blackmailed Mrs. Packletide and forced her to buy a weekend cottage for her at Darking . She had to pay a heavy price for suppressing the secret.

She planted so many tiger lilies in the garden . The secret of the tigers death was behind her grabbing that cottage.

Answer:

Mrs. Packletide never indulges in big- game shooting because she knew that wasn't a good hunter. It was only a myth that she had killed the tiger. So when her friends would enquire her that why does she not indulge in hunting, she answers that the incidental expenses such as a gun with some rifles are very costly and she doesn't want to spend the money on all these which could cost her a lot. Also her secret would remain a secret and will not get revealed.
