Comment on the nature of bonds present in a molecule of XY when you have these
additional information
1. The compound exists in the solid state
2. It has a very high melting point

Most probably Ionic

All the characters mentioned above are those of the Ionic bond. Since it is made of two ions attracted by strong electrostatic attraction, they are solid and have a high melting point. Also, as they are ions, they dissociate in polar solvents making great electrolytes.
