before knowing reaction u should know this :-

(metal from oxides which are basic in nature
it make red litmus to turn blue
metal oxide dissolve in water to give an alkaline solution (also known as amohoteric nature or basic ) like magnesium oxide
some metal oxide are basic as well as acidic in nature like aluminium oxide, zinc oxide )

example of reaction :-

Base + metal – base/metals/salt + H2

2NaoH + Zn – Na2ZnO3 + H2 (sodium Zincates)

Base reacts only with zinc and aluminum

Acids and Bases React with Metals. Acids react with most metals to form a salt and hydrogen gas. As discussed in Chapter 7, metals that are more active than acids can undergo a single diplacement reaction. For example, zinc metal reacts with hydrochloric acid producing zinc chloride and hydrogen gas

hope it helpful
