The significance of the title the 'Merchant of Venice' is truly by Antonio who is a rich Venetian Merchant . Despite of not being the centre of attraction he is the one who converts this story into drama especially through his melancholy as represented in Act 1 Scene1 . Later on as the session goes on there is drama , action , sadness and for sure comedy . The name of the tiltle is surely established by the occupation of Antonio.The Merchant of Venice is a romantic comedy .
