The poem Geography Lesson describes the poet's opinion of the land below when it is viewed from the sky. It basically shows the demographics of the earth.
- The poet gives a vivid representation of an unplanned city. The city has developed according to its need and has not developed according to proper planning. It has no specific style.
- When the poet went over ten thousand feet, he could understand the fact that cities were increasing water supplies. Water served the needs of agriculture, transport and others.
- When the jet flew over six miles, the poet could realize that our world has more water than land. Then he reflected that people on earth are greedy and narrow because they dislike each other. He considered the planet to be one, but people on earth are not divided for superficial reasons.

The poem has been titled, "Geography Lesson" and has been titled quite suitably. The poet learns a lesson from the geography. He was able to understand that the city that looked unplanned when viewed from the ground had been developed in accordance with the needs of the man.
