X chromosome of the mothers goes to the child irregardless of whether it is a girl or a boy. 
The chromosome of the father decides whether you are a girl or a boy.
If you are a boy - (XY) one chromosome is from the father and one from the mother.
If you are a girl - (XX) both chromosomes are from the mother........
