Liver does the production of bile, it secrets bile (pH is 8.6 of hepatic bile). The bile is stored in the gall bladder (gall bladder has the bile of pH 7.6). About 500-1000 millilitre of bile is secreted by liver in a day. Bile salts (these include sodium bicarbonate or baking soda, sodium glycocholate, sodium taurocholate) helpmin the digestion of fats in the small intestine by bringing about their ultimate emulsification (conversion of large fatty droplets into smaller minute ones). The usual flow of bile from the liver is hepatic ducts to gall bladder to cystic duct to bile duct to hepatopancreatic ampulla to duodenum. Despite having no enzyme it undergoes emulsification and the absorption of fat and fat-soluble vitamins (these salts help in the absorption of fat like fatty acids and glycerol including fat-soluble vitamins like A, D, E and K in the small intestine. Another function of it involves no enzyme is the activation of Lipase.
