SOLUTION

TO DETERMINE

The common difference of 3 , 1 , - 1 , - 3

EVALUATION

Here the given progression is

3 , 1 , - 1 , - 3

First term = 3

Second Term = 1

Third term = - 1

Fourth term = - 3

Second Term - First term = 1 - 3 = - 2

Third term - Second Term = - 1 - 1 = - 2

Thus common difference exists

So the terms are in Arithmetic Progression

Hence the required common difference = - 2
