Common salt does not show a colour change with indicators while zinc carbonate
does. However, both are salts.

Common salt is neutral in nature however zinc carbonate is a basic salt thus the result.

Because common salt (NaCl) is neutral whereas Zinc Carbonate is basic so it shows colour change in litmus paper.
