Commonly we hear words like 'first wave', 'second wave', 'third wave'. what this word "wave" mean if we talk in context of pandemic?​

It means spike.

Once the virus was spread all over world and cases started increasing to a peak then started decreasing once it was brought under control.

The second wave means it went outta control again and the cases rose to a peak once more momentarily.

Now if the cases started decreasing it will mark the end of second wave.

The word wave mans the upgradation or anything change in it. It refers to the symptoms and how the vaccine is affecting. How quickly people are dead etc. There are many reason to say the 'first wave', 'second wave', 'third wave'. Now the virus is in second wave because firstly people die after 10_14 day but now only after 3-4 days people are dead
