Communication satellites move in orbits of radius 44400 km around the earth. Assume that the only force acting on it is that due to Earth , then what is the acceleration of such a satellite ?
(Take the mass of earth as 6 x 10 ^24 kg and G = 6.67 into 10 ^-11Nm²/kg².)

Explanation:

R = 44400km.

R +h = 444 x 10^5 m

Mass of Earth = 6 x 10^24 kg

G = 6.67 * 10-11 Nm^2kg^-2

a = (G * Me ) / r2

a = (G * Me ) / r2 = {(6.67 * 10^-11) * (6 * 1024)} / (444 * 10^5)^2

= (40.02 * 10^13 ) / (197136 * 10^10 )

= 0.20301 m/s^2 .
