Both the Harrappan and the Mespotamian civilizations are known as the 'cradle of civilization' since they are the earliest known places of independent development, city life, agriculture and a form of community, in sharp contrast to other places during this time where people usually lived nomadic lives, on green plains, in forests and even in caves of Europe.
Both civilizations had many similar features such as a developed language , both in writing and speaking, artistry in painting and pottery and advanced agriculture and cultivation, and a very elaborate religious system.
However, there were many differences as well, the biggest being that the mesapotamians had a clear king, princes and royal linage while nothing of this sort has ever been discovered in harrapa.
