Mansabdars received their salaries as revenue assignments called jagirs which were somewhat like iqtas. the landowners were called iqtadars or muqtis. The muqtis collected the revenues of their assignments as salaries.

Iqtadars were governors of small land areas or iqtas. Iqtadars were basically military commanders who had to accompany the king during wars. 

Mansabdar means a man with a mansab (a position or rank). Mansabdars were officers in Mughal administration.
