Answer:
Modern education began in India under British rule. Before the British, India had its own educational systems like the Gurukulas and the Madrassas. The East India Company, during their first 60 years of rule didn’t care much for the education of those they ruled in India. (Even in England, universal education came about at a much later stage.
while the current education system is The school system in India has four levels: lower primary (age 6 to 10), upper primary (11 and 12), high (13 to 15) and higher secondary (17 and 18). The lower primary school is divided into five “standards”, upper primary school into two, high school into three and higher secondary into two.
the difference between the 2 education system is in current education system of India the students are taught about science, technology, language skills, and mathematics etc.
The education system in India and England is quite similar. The ages for primary, secondary, and high school are more or less the same. In fact, since the British ruled over India for many decades, they were the ones to design the modern Indian education system. As two powerful economies of the world, the schools in both countries are excelling.
If I were to compare my school life at Ebenezer International School, Bangalore with that of my cousin studying in London, I would not find a stark difference, except for the fact that the comprehension abilities of students would probably vary. Indian education is very theoretical. If I were to make simplistic comparisons, I could say that students here will be made to learn historical dates by heart, whereas students in the UK would be asked to write their account or perception of a historical event. But international schools in India are changing this culture of mugging up for the sake of scoring well in exams. I remember participating in Model UN in school. And just as you would expect from London schools, Ebenezer also offered a variety of extracurricular activities and much more.
Truth be told, it may be hard to compare these countries in terms of education. In general, Indian education may seem inadequate as most students lack the basic knowledge of English and fall back in confidence. But in reality, this is only limited to smaller towns and rural areas. Urban cities are competitive and following international curriculums that are competing with other developed countries, such as the UK. Slowly but surely, things are improving.
