Biomass and hydroelectricity are different in many aspects. Hydroelectricity is generated using the kinetic energy from moving water, while the energy from biomass is generated by decomposition of farm waste.

Biomass is the energy derived from remains of living organisms such dry leaves, agricultural waste, wood shavings etc. and animal excreta such as cow dung.It is a renewable source of energy. The devices used for utilizing bio mass (chullahs, biogas plants) can be installed at all places. The use of bio-mass produces a lot of smoke. It is used for cooking, illumination etc.

Hydroelectricity is producing by the potential energy of water at height. It is also a renewable source of energy. It requires construction of dams on rivers and its plants can be built only at few places. It requires a huge investment but it is pollution free. The electricity produced can be used to run all type of electric appliances.
