Jawahar Lal Nehru and Chaudhary Charan Singh were two famous personages in Indian politics. Jawahar Lal Nehru was born on November 14, 1889, whereas Chaudhary Charan Singh was born on December 23, 1902.

Jawahar Lal Nehru was the first Prime Minister of India, whereas  Chaudhary Charan Singh became the fifth Prime Minister of India. The former belonged to Indian National Congress political party, but the latter belonged to Janta Party.

Nehru remained at the helm of political affairs from 1947 to 1964. During these years he tried his best to introduce many reforms in agriculture and industry to help India develop fast. He believed India could develop much faster only through the spread of education in the country. Education was given much emphasis on during his leadership.

On the international front, Nehru was quite active. He started Non-Alignment Movement and maintained warm relations with the Capitalistic as well as the Communist bloc.

However, the Indo-China war proved his inefficiency as an aggressive Prime Minister. In the present times He is held responsible for many challenges that the nation faces till today. Kashmir is one of them.

Chaudhary Charan Singh remained in the office of Prime Minister only for 6 months approximately. Since he was the Prime Minister only for a short span, not many achievements are credited to him. However, he is considered as the champion of India’s peasants.

In conclusion it can be said, that Jawahar Lal Nehru’s political career was far more comprehensive than that of Chaudhary Charan Singh.
