He could not rise his opinions in the house.

Though he had love towards the grandfather he could not express it because of his wife

Mrs. Slater was arrogant.

She was dominating.

She had no love for her father and only focused on outshining others especially her sister.

Henry is honest in nature while Mrs Slater is selfish and always had a greedy nature. When shifting the bureau, Henry asked Mrs Slater that we should ask the Jordan's which show's his honesty whereas Mrs Slater show's her greediness.
