There are two father daughter relationships prevailing in this play-one is between Portia and her dead father and other is between Jessica and Shylock.
Both are very different from each other,though Portia's father is dead she still proves to be a obedient daughter to him by respecting his choice of lottery.
On the other hand the motherless Jessica despises her father and her home has been made hell by him.She immediately agrees to betray her father by eloping with a Christian guy with all the money and jewels.
