(i) Partition of India was based on religion-Hindu-Muslim divide, whereas the partition of Vietnam was based on communism and democracy

(ii) The Partition of India was permanent and India and Pakistan remains permanently divided, whereas Vietnam (North and South) was unified in the year 1975  when the armed forces of the Communist that is, North Vietnam seized South Vietnam

(iii)  The partition of India was part of the end of British rule over the sub-continent of India, and was caused partly by the two-nation theory - India and Pakistan,  whereas the Geneva Conference (comprising China, USSR, Australia and the United States)  was used to diplomatically solve the crisis in Indo-China, where the nation was split into two – North Vietnam and South Vietnam
