The first thing you need to do is pick the ads. When I first read your assignment, I thought of the multitude of TV commercials for car insurance. Some of them actually talk about driving safely! Mostly, they seem to entertain. The prescription medication commercials are also plentiful. I can think of at least two anti-depressants that advertise.
You also might pick up a magazine or newspaper. In the magazine, you will probably find print ads for medications. Another possibility is looking in a women's magazine for two different cosmetic ads. A newspaper might have ads for two different stores, like Target and Wal-Mart, to compare. Car dealerships are also big advertisers.
Another possibility would be to look at online advertising. The ads I tend to notice are for online education programs. There's one I keep seeing that features a drawing of a woman in a cap and gown. For some reason she is jumping. I have no idea what the ad is for, but I can't wait to get off of the page every time I see it.
I can't pick the ads for you, but there are a few suggestions. What I can do is tell you how to approach this paper. Here is what the typical college paper looks like:
? The introduction tells the reader what the paper is about and it contains a thesis statement that makes a "claim" or says what you think is the main point of the paper.
? The body paragraphs elaborate on your thesis ...
