The ability to read and write is called literacy; its opposite is illiteracy i.e; the enable to read and write is called illeteracy..... In some societies a person who can read the letters of the alphabet or read and write his or her own name is considered literate. And a person who can't read or write anything is called as illiterate.....Literates will be give more importance and respect in society. And illiterates will have less importance in society.....Literates can do work easily. But illiterates work hard...... Literates earn more money. But illiterates can't earn more money and search for work..

Hope this helps you
