both poems question ." fire and Ice " question the destructive nature of human emotions and their capacity fordestruction ."design"question the existence of fate or " intelligent design ."however , the poems both poems very different in their style and structure. " fire and Ice " is single - poems with nine lines and an uneven meter ." Design" on the other hand , follows a sonnet 's structure and is primarily witten in iambic parameter. because the topics and the style in both poems are so different ,it's hard to tell if they were witten by the same poet.
