The working of the heart is as below -

• The heart is one of the most important organs of the human body which plays a very vital role in our body and is responsible for carrying out major functions.
• The main function of the heart is to pump the blood throughout the body and hence supply oxygen and nutrients to different tissues and remove carbon dioxide and waste products from the blood.
• The arteries receive the oxygenated blood from the heart and supply the same to the body. Whereas, the veins take the deoxygenated blood from all parts of the body to the heart for oxygenation.
• The right atrium of the heart receives blood from the veins and pumps the same to the right ventricle.
• The right ventricle of the heart pumps the blood received from the right atrium to the lungs.
• The left atrium of the heart receives oxygenated blood from the lungs and pumps the same to the left ventricle.
• The left ventricle pumps the oxygenated blood all over the body.
