Natural resources: resources which are drawn from the nature and put up to use without much modification are called natural resources.
They can be broadly be categorised on the basis of:
1) level of development and use-
We have got 2 types of natural resources in this category:
a) Actual resources- resources which have a known quantity and are being used .eg-
Coal in Ruhr, Germany
b)Potential resources- resources which have an unknown quantity and will be put up to use in the future , with more advanced technology. E.g. - uranium deposits in Ladakh
2) On the basis of stock-
Here too we’ve got two types:
a) renewable resources- resources that can be replenished. E.g.-solar energy
b) non-renewable resources- resources which take a very long time to replenish (that can be longer than the human lifespan)or don’t replenish at all. Eg- fossil fuels and minerals
3) on the basis of origin-
Two types again-
a) abiotic resources- non living environmental resources. Eg- sun
b) biotic resources- living resources. Eg- plants nd animals
4) on he basis of distribution:
Once again two types:
a) Ubiquitous resources- resources found everywhere. Eg- air and land
b) localised resources- resources found at particular places. Eg- minerals
HUMAN- MADE RESOURCES:
Resources made by humans / resources drawn from the nature with changed original forms.
