Distinguishing characteristics of suspension, colloidal solution, and solution.

1.) particle Size :-
----------------------–-----------------

Suspension: > 100nm

Colloidal solution : 1 to 100 nm

Solution : < 1 nm

2.) Filterability :-
------------------------------------------

Suspension : cannot pass through filter paper or membrane.

Colloidal solution : can pass through filter paper But not through animal membrane.

Solution : can pass through filter paper and animal membrane.

3.) settling of particles :-
---------------------------------------------

Suspension : settle of their own.

Colloidal solution : settle only on centrifugation.

Solution : Do not settle.

4.) Appearance :-
----------------------------------------------

Suspension : opaque

Colloidal solution : Generally transparent.

solution : Transparent.

5.) Tyndall Effect :-
----------------------------------------------

Suspension : Shows

colloidal solution : Shows

solution : Does not shows

6.) Diffusion of particles :-
----------------------------------------------

Suspension : Do not diffuse.

Colloidal solution : Diffuse slowly.

Solution : Diffuse rapidly.

7.) Brownian Motion : -
------------------------------------------------

suspension : May show

Colloidal solution : shows

solution : May or May not show.

8.) Nature :-
------------------------------------------------
Suspension : Heterogeneous

Colloidal solution : Heterogeneous

Solution : Homogeneous
