The problem with Ryoti Cultivation
→ The loan committed the ryot ( farmers) to cultivating indigo on at least 25% of the area under his holding.
→ The planters provided the seeds and seed drill , while the cultivators do very hard labour.
→ The indigo plant had to take care like a born child .
→ The indigo lost the soil fertility.
And many are there.
