Similarly, in order to draw attention to British control, Americans boycotted British tea and other products. Indians opted for a peaceful method of achieving independence while Americans went with violence. Their individual cultures and the eras they lived in had a big impact on the routes they took. They had quite diverse leaders and operating systems. Actually, the American colony was one where the ancestors of British people revolted against it, whereas in India it was the native population that rose up.

Before the Industrial Revolution, there was the American Revolution (when colonial arms were as good as British arms). Long after the Industrial Revolution, the Indian Independence Movement began (when home country arms were potentially much better).
