- The Arab empire experienced a "golden age" in the following centuries, when Islamic astronomers, mathematicians, doctors, & inventors made major breakthroughs. Arab traders traded commodities across & between the Mediterranean Sea & Africa & Asia on board ships called "dhows".
Ottoman Empire
- One of the most dominant & "longest-lasting dynasties" in world history, the Ottoman empire. For over 600 years, this "Islamic superpower" had ruled vast areas throughout the Middle East, North Africa, & Eastern Europe. The king, called the Sultan, was granted full religious and political power over the people.
- While for 600 years, the Ottoman Empire flourished, despite attempts to modernize, the empire steadily declined.
