Step-by-step explanation:

Assume a square of side s, and a rectangle of sides a and b. or b = 2s-a. ie, The sides of rectangle can be rewritten as [a] and [2s-a]. so only when s = a, both perimeter and area are equal.

Let the square be of 'a'side then the area of rectangle will be [2a×(a+6)] because sides of rectangle will be ( length ) l=2a

(breadth ) b=a+6

then again from the question

area of rectangle = 3× area of square

⇒2a×(a+6)=3a

2

⇒2a

2

+6(2a)=3a

2

⇒3a

2

=6×2a+2a

2

⇒a

2

=12a

so,a=12
