★Given:-
- Length of side of square = 15cm
- Length of rectangle = 11cm
- Breadth of rectangle = 8cm
★To find:-
- Compares the area of square and rectangle
- Find out which figure has greater area and by how much.
★Solution:-
Using the formula,
✦Area of square = (side)²
Putting values,
Area = 15²
= 225cm²
Using the formula,
✦Area of rectangle = length×breadth
Where,
- Length = 11cm
- Breadth = 8cm
Putting values in the formula,
Area = l×b
= 11×8
= 88cm²
We have,
- Area of square = 225cm²
- Area of rectangle = 88cm²
As we can see, 88 < 225.that is,
→Area of square > Area of rectangle
Difference of their areas:-
➔Area of square - area of rectangle
➔225 - 135cm²
➔137cm²
Therefore,the square has greater are and by 137cm².
