Given:-

  • Length of side of square = 15cm
  • Length of rectangle = 11cm
  • Breadth of rectangle = 8cm

To find:-

  • Compares the area of square and rectangle
  • Find out which figure has greater area and by how much.

Solution:-

Using the formula,

Area of square = (side)²

Putting values,

Area = 15²

        = 225cm²

Using the formula,

Area of rectangle = length×breadth

Where,

  • Length = 11cm
  • Breadth = 8cm

Putting values in the formula,

Area = l×b

        = 11×8

        = 88cm²

We have,

  • Area of square = 225cm²
  • Area of rectangle = 88cm²

As we can see, 88 < 225.that is,

Area of square > Area of rectangle

Difference of their areas:-

➔Area of square - area of rectangle

➔225 - 135cm²

137cm²

Therefore,the square has greater are and by 137cm².
