  • Roman family was dominated by men. The oldest living male were called "paterfamilias" and looked after the family's property and business affairs . He also used to perform religious rites on their behalf. Roman household included the head (Usually father) , pater familia( father of the family), wife, children and other relatives. In upper classes servants and slaves were part of the household.  
  • Indian joint family includes many  generations of member living together, it includes parents, aunts, grandparents etc. All live together in the same household  and take food from a common kitchen.  But there are no slaves in Indian families.
