\underline\bold{Democratic\:Government:-}

• Only leaders/ rulers elected by people, rule the country. They can change their rulers at the time of elections.

• People enjoy various freedom such as freedom of expression, of association etc.

• Major decisions are taken by the elected rulers/ leaders.

• A democratic government is based on a free and fair election where those currently in power have a fair chance of losing.

• In a democracy, each adult citizen has one vote and each vote has one value-universal adult franchise. There is political equality.

\underline\bold{Non-democratic\:Government:-}

• People cannot choose their rulers or change them.

\bold{Ex-} the rulers of Myanmar are not elected by the people.

-- Similarly in the case of monarchies.

• People do not have any freedom. They cannot criticise the government. They cannot form association.

• People may have elected representatives as in Pakistan. But they cannot take final decisions which are taken by dictators or army officers.

• There are no free and fair elections in a non-democratic government.

• In a non-democratic government there are many instances of denial of equal right to vote.

\bold{Ex-} In saudi arabia. There is no political equality.
