 \frac{ - 9}{13}  =  \frac{ - 9 \times 3}{13 \times 3}  =   \frac{ - 27}{39}

 \frac{ - 5}{9}  =  \frac{ - 5 \times 13}{9 \times 13}  =   \frac{ - 65}{117}

 \frac{ - 27}{39}  >  \frac{ - 65}{117}

therefore \:  \frac{ - 9}{13}  >  \frac{ - 5}{9}
