Life of the people in Amazon Basin

1.Hunting and fishing are the main occupations of the people.

2.Their staple food is Manioc or Cassava .

3.People also carry out 'slash and burn' pattern of agriculture .

The life in Amazon Basin is changing rapidly.


Forests are getting depleted because of commercial uses mainly wood.

Roads are constructed to reach the interiors.Farming has been started by clearing forests.Airports and helipads are being set up. Industries are also developing.Mining, oil exploration and logging are also going on.Many native people are on the verge of being displaced due to high scale deforestation.This deforestation have decreased the amount of rainfall and the increased temperatures causing droughts to occur recently.

CONCLUSION -

  1. People in the Amazon basin practice “slash and burn agriculture”
  2. They grow cassava, pineapple, sweet potato, and tapioca along with cash crops like cocoa, coffee and maize etc.
  3. Men hunt and fish while cultivate the crops

  5. Bigger apartments are called “Maloca”
  6. Developmental activities in the recent years have been ruining the forest cover there

Amazon basin is the part of the South America drained by the Amazon River and it is has tributes live animals which are 4th largest commodity in the industry after the drugs.
