Parliamentary form: president is the head of the state but prime minister is the head of the government. President work on aid and advice of council of ministers which is headed by prime minister. Also the council of ministers is directly responsible to parliament or specifically to the lower house of parliament. Also prime minister is not directly choosen by people but is choosen by representatives from among themselves. In some cases he may be a person not representing any of the constituency. But he will have to become member of parliament within six months.

Presidential form: president is directly elected by people. He is empowered to take most of the executive decisions subject to concurrence by Congress. He chooses his own cabinet and is appointed for a fixed term ( 4 years in case of US President). He is both head of the state as well as government.
