Physical properties of metals

Shiny (lustrous) in natureMetal is a good conductor of electricity and heatDensity and melting point is highMouldable (Malleable)DuctileAt room temperature, it is in solid form except for mercuryOpaque

Chemical properties of metals

Easily corrodibleCan lose electronsForm basic oxidesHave lower electronegativitiesGood reducing agents

Physical properties of non-metals

Poor conductors of electricity and heatNon-Ductile metalsBrittle solidsMaybe solids, liquids or gases at room temperatureThese are not sonorousTransparent

Chemical properties of non-metals

The number of electrons in the outer shell is generally 4-8Easily gain or lose valence electronsForm acidic oxides whenever they come in contact with oxygenHigh electronegative elementsGreat oxidizing agents

CHEMICAL PROPERTIES OF METAL
= METALS REACT WITH AIR AND PRODUCE ACID

CHEMICAL PROPERTY OF NON METALS
= oxide of non metal are acidic in nature
= non metal do not react with water
= non metal is very reactive with air =phosphorus is a very reactive with non metal = Phosphorus is stored in water
