Question :-

Compare the plight of the caged bird with that of the free bird and show how the theme of freedom and enslavement is brought out in the poem

Answer :-

The caged birds legs and wings are tied and it hardly sees the outside world through the bars of the cage. The caged bird lets out its nightmare scream to express his fear, and anger. The caged can only sing for freedom. But the free bird is free to fly , his owns the sky. He is free to do whatever he wants. His wings are not tied like the caged bird. The poet compares the life of a caged bird and the free bird to emphasize the theme of enslavement and freedom.
