Both the poems comprise of an old man talking about war.

However, in After Blenheim the situation is post war where the grandfather has survived, and already lost everything he had except for his little house and the grandchildren.

In old man at the bridge, the war is ongoing and people are running for their lives while an old man sits in the middle of the bridge, too worried about his animals, he is afraid to lose what he has and his chances of survival are bleak.

In After Blenheim we can see evidences of war discovered by the little boy and the grandfather tells them how the wars used to be.

Whereas, in The Old Man at the Bridge, the old man is having a dialogue with a soldier who is trying to help him while keeping an eye on the enemy, while he awaits his own death. The old man's animals have higher chance of survival than the man himself.

May this helps you
