When comparing the policies among national parties and state parties, just by identifying and distinguishing them in general, their policies get distinguished from each other, easily.
Lets take the country, India as an example.
India in itself is a country following a democratic system, a federal system. India has a multi-party system consisting of a number of recognized national, state and district level parties.
According to 'The Election Commission of India' periodical reviews are carried out on the parties and their policies, programs
- A state party if recognized, is allowed to have its own party symbol.
- A state party can be consulted while setting the election dates.

National Party
- Definition: A registered party is recognized as a National Party if it fulfills any conditions such as;
a- winning 2% seats in Lok Sabha from at least 3 States.
b-It polls 6% of the votes in 4 States and wins 4 Lok Sabha seats in a General Election.
c- The party gets recognition as a State Party in the 4 states or more.
State Party
A registered party is recognized as a 'State Party' if it fulfills the following conditions, like;
a- Winning minimum 3% of the total number of seats or a minimum of 3 seats in the Legislative Assembly.
b- The concerned party ends up winning minimum 1 seat in the Lok Sabha for every 25 seats or any fraction as per allocation by the state.
c- It secures at least 6% of the total valid votes polled in a General Election to either a Lok Sabha or a State Legislative Assembly, subsequently wins at least 1 Lok Sabha and 2 Legislative Assembly seats.
d- It would be eligible if it secures 8% or more of the total valid votes polled in the State and at least secures 1 seat in any State.( under liberalization )
A National Party is the one which is in the apex of governance in a nation. Whereas, a political party is one of the many parties who fight for recognition in the government level. Based on the facts the policies programs of a National Party can be summed up as follows:-
