                             1:- it forms by either gaining or losing electron
                             2:-it have strong inter ionic attraction.
                             3:-it have high melting point
                             4:-it have high boiling point
                             5:it conducts electricity in molten state

covalent compound:-
                                1:it forms by sharing of electron.
                               2:-it have loose inter ionic attraction
                               3:-it have low melting point
                               4:-it have low boiling point
                             5:-it not conduct electricity
